There’s a sometimes sad side to life on the farm, as the following clips demonstrate. Although some tall grass had grown up around the chicken’s compound, we still thought our mongoose-proofing of not much more than a year ago was intact. And, it was – about 99%. When we saw a mongoose who’d gotten in (and we soon realized we lost two hens to mongoose), he frantically ran along the base of the wire walls of the pen and couldn’t get out…UNTIL, after about a whole lap, he managed to squeeze out through a tight spot they’d burrowed in through. We feel sad, and a little guilty, but we can only tighten things up, again, and move on with life like the hens down on the farm are doing.
